Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Now that 2022 is upon us, everyone that we know is bombarding us with their New Year’s resolutions. We do not tend to partake in these practices but we still have a lot of fun taking them all in. For us, it is more important to try and improve on a daily basis, but for some, the demarcation of each year is an easy place to start. That’s what makes this story such a fun one.

Reese Witherspoon’s recent Instagram post about her personal resolutions got a lot of people talking. “Are there any that have improved your daily life? Here are some I’m working towards: “1. Start the day with a big glass of water. 2. Get 10 minutes of outdoor light. 3. Spend 30-60 mins reading without distraction everyday. 4. In bed by 10pm. *no late night TV binges. Try to get 8 hours of rest!” she said.

These are all noble goals but we’re going to go ahead and call shenanigans on most of them. Nice try, Reese, but we’ll check back in July and see how far you got with these.

Ina Garten finally decided to swoop in and respond to this post. As you would have expected, our queen wasted no time.

“To quote @reesewitherspoon – That sounds great but I’m probably not doing any of those things! LOL!!” the Barefoot Contessa wrote on Reese’s post. “My formula is easier to follow: 1. Drink more large cosmos 2. Stay up late watching addictive streaming series, 3. Stay in bed in the morning playing Sudoku instead of reading a good book. 4. Spend more time (safely) with people you love. In a pandemic, I do what I can!”

We’re going to level with you here, we are far more likely to take inspiration from Ina’s resolutions than Reese’s. In these trying times, we need lots of rest and relaxation. Yes, we also require a sizable cosmo to help us out as well….don’t judge us, please.

How do you feel about these sets of resolutions? Will you be following in Reese’s footsteps or are you more likely to go along with what Ina has to say?
