Reykjavík is an area that you should consider visiting at least once in your life. It is especially true if you want to make the most of the Nordic landscape by staying in some beautiful glass cabins. Visitors are able to rent those cabins to stay for a holiday, thanks to Panorama Glass Lodge. When you’re in the front sleeping area, you will have glass all around so you and a friend can stay safe and cozy while looking at the surrounding environment.
“ÖÖD Iceland is a house of transparent glass that allows for next-level stargazing from the comfort of your home and bed,” shares Andreas Tiik, CEO of ÖÖD. “The apocalyptic scenery is a dramatic match-add strong howling winds and the comfort of a warm, homely cabin and you get the perfect out-of-this-world hideaway.”
There is a sitting area with a bathroom and an open kitchen in the rear of the cabin. Thermally modified ash helps to keep you comfortable in the frozen landscape. It also adds a rich and beautiful tone to the cabin, and the ash is used in both the furniture and the flooring.
They wanted to make the cabin as comfortable and functional as possible, especially considering the harsh environment and the small space they were dealing with. As an example, they used “warm glass” for the windows and roof. It uses electric currents and metal oxides on one side of a glass to help heat the cabin. In fact, it is the primary heating for the cabin and it also helps to keep snow and ice from accumulating. Since it has anti-condensation properties, you will always have a clear view of the outside.
The interior has an open feel that keeps you comfortable. It was also designed perfectly by those who wanted to make the most out of the available space. “When you live in a small space, it may be tempting to design closed cabinets, throw everything inside, and shut the door,” shares ÖÖD. “But imagine how cold and closed off this space would look if the dishes, pots, knives, picture frames, etc were hidden behind cabinets.”
Of course, just because they have things out in the open doesn’t mean that you don’t have a place to store your belongings. Below the bed are some drawers so you can keep your clothing and other items tucked out of sight. There are also cabinets that will hold your luggage so they won’t be out in the middle of the room, reminding you that you will have to go home someday. There is also a privacy option with curtains all around the bed to help keep out the light if desired or to keep people from peering in when it’s dark outside.
The two cabins are each 236 ft.² and have an outdoor hot tub. You can book them through the Panorama Glass Lodge.
These cabins have the comfort you desire while providing you with beautiful views of the environment.
Guests can use the glass roof to Stargaze without leaving the bed.
