Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

How often do you do laundry? If you are like most people, it seems as if it is a never-ending chore and you might feel as if you are throwing a load of laundry in on a continual basis. If you skip a day, the laundry begins to pile up and it seems to come out of nowhere. What even makes things worse is that laundry detergent is extremely expensive and we use so much of it! Fortunately, we can make our own and it isn’t difficult or expensive to do it.

A recipe for a 3-ingredient, all-natural laundry detergent has been shared by Natural Living Ideas. It will save you a lot of money on detergent and you can be sure of everything that is in the product you are using to wash your family’s laundry.

In order to get started, you will need to pick up a bar of Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap (choose any scent), 2 cups of Borax, and 2 cups of washing soda (a natural laundry booster). A cheese grater is used to grate the bar of Castile soap. You then pour the three ingredients into a large container and shake until it is combined.

It may seem simplistic but that really is all there is to it. 1/4 cup of this homemade detergent can be used for a load of laundry, but if it is a big load, you can always add a little more. This recipe will help you save money and give you confidence, knowing that you are using a product without any hidden ingredients on the inside.
