Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

The McRib is a polarizing sandwich, for sure. There are many who love it and there are many who find it to be distasteful.

It’s fun to see where everyone lands on it once it makes its yearly return. It is only around for a limited time only, which leads to some very funny conversations. If you have ever wondered how this sandwich is made, this is your chance to learn more.

For better or for worse, viewers are taking in the process and the takes are flying fast and furious. A video of the process was shared on Twitter and of course, people wasted no time expressing their pure repulsion at what they had seen. We find ourselves wondering if anyone who would once have consumed one of these sandwiches has changed their mind.

Viewers were treated to the sight of the frozen rib-type product being slapped onto the grill. Anyone who thought they had a smoker back there had better avert their gaze.

From there, the items that had been transformed into a shape that somewhat resembles a rib were taken off the grill after having been cooked in batches of six. The slabs of mystery meat are then placed on top of pickles and onions before being set down on lightly toasted buns.

They are sent down a chute as well. This really removes the element of mystery, doesn’t it? The specific store was not named but it is probably safe to presume that every McDonald’s follows the same general procedure when it comes to slapping together the McRib sandwiches that (some of us) know and love.

We are certainly not going to go and grab one based on this video, that is for sure. The person who posted the video does not seem to be too into it, either.

“Can this even be considered food? A McDonald’s worker decides to reveal how a McRib is made,” their description reads. All it takes is a quick look at the replies to see how grossed out everyone else is.

We are right there with you guys! There are some who defended them, though. “Not saying these are fine dining or anything, but … that’s just what frozen ground meat looks like. Yeah, it’s shaped and molded to resemble (ish) pork ribs, but I’m unmoved by this. McRibs taste pretty good for what they are,” said one viewer.
