Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

If you have ever gone to pick up a treat after seeing it on television and been surprised by what it actually looks like, this is the perfect story for you.

We are definitely relating to this one, that is for sure. This Dunkin’ Donuts customer is here to share their tale of woe and we feel bad for laughing. Don’t worry, we are laughing with them, not at them.

It all started on October 12. Dunkin’ announced that they would be making a few seasonal additions to the menu. Peanut Butter Cup Macchiato, Spider Donut, and the “Dunk-o-Lantern” doughnut were among them. @deee_2525 is the TikTok user who was let down by their experience.

They decided to grab a Dunk-o-Lantern and you won’t believe what they ended up getting. The final product looked much different from the product photo. The treat has been described as a “pumpkin-shaped donut shell filled with vanilla-flavored butter crème filling, topped with orange icing, and a classic Jack-o’-lantern grin.” This was the furthest thing from what they got.

“I just wanted a nice jack-o-lantern donut,” their caption reads.

If you have spent anytime online, you have probably seen no shortage of “what I ordered versus what I got” memes. Even if you are a veteran of these conversations, nothing could prepare you for what you are about to see. The doughnut was orange and oval-shaped at least. The thick smudge of chocolate frosting was present, too.

After that, the differences really started to present themselves. The eyes were not black like they were in the stock photo. Instead, tiny orange pumpkin candies had been embedded within the doughnut itself. It’s certainly a treat that is geared towards the spooky season.

“Okay I like it Picasso,” the official Dunkin’ Donuts TikTok account replied. “Still love you guys,” @deee_2525 replied.

“As a former Dunkin baker who got precisely two days of training, this donut checks out,” said one viewer.

It’s gotta be harder to replicate these designs than we realize and we are glad that this customer was willing to have a good sense of the humor about the whole thing.
