Most people already know that many celebrities are either vegan, vegetarian, or follow a raw vegetable-based diet. This year, all the stars will be going vegan at the 77th annual Golden Globes for the first time ever.
According to the Associated Press, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association explained that the decision was made to help raise awareness about food consumption and waste.
The 77th annual Golden Globe Awards, which recognizes the best in film and television, will serve its A-list guests a 100% plant-based dinner. It’s the first major awards show to go entirely meatless. https://t.co/9QYNKXvS29

“Once we thought about it and the message that it sent, we were really excited about it. That’s something I stand behind myself,” Executive Chef of The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA, Matthew Morgan, told AP.
According to the LA Times, the award show has been gluten-free in the past, but this is the first time they’re going vegan. Dishes like Chilean Seabass have been served in the past with vegan options available upon request.
The menu will include golden beet soup, king oyster mushroom scallops (not real oysters), mushroom risotto, and a roasted vegetable mix.
As part of its sustainability efforts, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will be serving a plant-based meal at the #GoldenGlobes on Jan. 5, making it likely the first major awards show to go all-vegan https://t.co/5zyTy9CHP8

To shine a light on food waste from single-use plastic, all water will be served to guests in glass bottles with paper straws.
The Golden Globes is the first awards show to go plant-based, so it will be interesting to see if other award shows follow in their footsteps.
