George Lopez has made his name over the years for his Mexican-based standup comedy. Now the actor is making a splash in the food world.
After opening up a bunch of “Chingon Kitchen” restaurants in the past few years, he is now bringing his brand name to Salsa Chingon.
According to Foodbeast, his new salsa comes in two flavors: Roja and Habanero Pineapple Mango.
The Roja salsa is comparable to your everyday medium salsas and doesn’t pack too much heat.
The Habanero Pineapple Mango is not only spicy but is balanced by the sweetness of pineapple pieces chopped into it.
The term “Chingon” roughly translates to “badass” and seems to be a common theme amongst his restaurants.
Lopez told Foodbeast in a 2017 interview that he’s very much conscious of the public’s unfamiliarity with the Spanish slang word, but loves seeing people read it with confusion in their eyes.
The Salsa Chingon is currently available at Rivalworld.com, at $15 per 16-ounce jar.SKM: below-content placeholder
