Social media has introduced us to so many kitchen hacks that, at times, it is difficult to keep track of them all. Some of those tricks are worth their weight in gold while others are just a lame attempt at going viral.
Bethany Ugarte is one of those who knows her way around the kitchen and she shares tips for making the most out of life in your kitchen as well. That includes a number of tips on keeping food fresh, including one that deals with bananas.
If you are somebody who loves bananas, you probably appreciate the fact that they are relatively inexpensive and make a good, quick snack.
You have also probably lamented over the fact that they go bad very quickly. It seems as if that isn’t going to be as much of a problem any longer.
Her trick is fairly simple but it is one that many people had never heard of before.
She freezes her bananas with the peel on and they stay fresh for a long time. They won’t turn brown and since you aren’t allowing air to get to the fruit inside, they won’t go bad either.
One of the suggestions that she makes is to run the banana under warm water briefly and then cut off the peel.
You can use this for eating a banana or in a smoothie, which is her preferred method for using frozen bananas.
