Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Dunkin’ Donuts is always here to provide us with a wide range of donut flavors and while we love to head to these shops to put together our own dozen, it would be pretty cool if we were able to make these donuts ourselves. Dunkin’ Donuts has had your cries and they are here to help. Thanks to the new DIY donut kits, you and your loved ones are finally being given the chance to make your very own Dunkin’ Donuts at home.

These kits are only available at certain locations so be sure to ask about availability in your area before making any assumptions. It never hurts to pick up the phone and make a call to save yourself a trip! This idea was the brainchild of an employee named Norma Valkenaar who works at a California Dunkin’ Donuts location.

She asked her superiors if she could bring home a kit like this to her nephews and it did not take long before the wheels had started in motion. Matt Cobo is the franchisee who decided to start carrying the kits first and they were made available at his locations in Concord and Walnut Creek. Every box comes with the plain donuts and you are given all of the tools that you need to decorate them.

“You’ve been dunked” 🍩 Our Bay Area franchisee, Matt Cobo, was inspired when his employee, Norma Valkenaar, came up with the idea of ‘donut kits’ to keep people entertained. They began to surprise their families and friends with kits to spread joy from a distance. We’re all in this together. ❤️

One of the locations has a kit that comes with four separate donuts and chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla frosting. Of course, there are also plenty of sprinkles to choose from, too. These kits can be had for just $7.99. A nine donut option is available as well which comes with additional frosting and sprinkles and costs $15.99.

“This is our small way of trying to brighten someone’s day,” Matt said when asked about the new initiative. Who wouldn’t love to create your own donut? Whether you are 6, 60, or any age in between, this is a great way to pass the time. Other franchisees are following Matt’s lead which is great news for us donut lovers!
