Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

The California School for the Deaf has done something that very few other schools have ever done. There varsity football team had an undefeated season this year and ended up winning the divisional championship.

This was the first time that it has ever happened in school history. Perhaps what is more amazing, however, is that the coaches and players communicate using American Sign Language.

In speaking with ABC news, coach Keith Adams said, “It’s inspiring for the deaf community quite honestly. 11 and 0 we’ve never experienced this being this far in playoffs.”

He went on to say how excited the community is and how the morale has been at an all-time high.

Jory Valencia is the wide receiver who says the team’s inspiration came from not having a successful season. They wanted to show the world they could play.

Enos Zornoza is the running back who said that deaf people can do anything and they wanted to break the stereotype. He says that their success came from a lot of hard work and perseverance.

The school was so proud of the athletes that they even threw a school-wide parade for them!
