Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Madelynn is a typical 15-year-old girl but when her parents, Tonya Ford and Larry Sumter caught her trying to sneak boys into a girls-only sleepover, she got grounded. She had the choice of two different punishments, either going without her phone for a month or giving her parents complete control over social media for two weeks.

She decided to go with the two-week option and some creative posts ensued. It seems as if her parents were having a lot of fun taking over her Instagram, including this post that was captioned: “Like, can we save the mother freakin turtles already?!”

“We said you can either go a month without a phone or two weeks without a phone but we have complete control of your social media,” Ford, 43, told TODAY.

She will probably have some regrets when she gets her phone back.

It isn’t only Instagram, they’ve also taken over her TikTok.

“After the first day, Madelynn was like, ‘I changed my mind, I choose the one month,’” Ford said. “Larry told her, ‘No. I’m too invested. I have too many ideas. We’re sticking with the two weeks.’ He’s loving it. I think he’s gonna make his own TikTok account when this over.”

Madelynn is used to her father embarrassing her. Ford says her husband enjoys picking her up from high school dressed as the school mascot with country music playing on the radio.

“We’re always down to embarrass our kids,” Ford added.

Even her friends are getting involved.

Madelynn was able to eventually regain control of her social media. She posted a picture of herself as a baby, saying: “I’m back sweeter than ever and ready to make good choices.”

Her friends had other ideas, with one even commenting: “Bring back dad!!”

Madelynn seems to be okay with everything and is leaving the posts up for the time being. It allows us to continue to enjoy these videos:

Rock-on, Dad!
