There are two types of people in this world, those who love winter and those who despise it. Regardless of what side of the fence you happen to fall on, however, I’m sure that we could all agree there is nothing quite as nice as a hot mug of cocoa when it is cold outside.

Cocoa is more than just a delicious beverage to enjoy in the winter, it is a nostalgic beverage that brings back all kinds of nice memories. It doesn’t matter if you are enjoying a cup with your breakfast in the morning or having a nice mug of hot cocoa before bed, it warms you up on the inside in a way like nothing else can.

Having a mug of hot cocoa is fantastic but what if you could have an entire crockpot filled with hot cocoa? Imagine the possibilities at a party or just to enjoy as a family.

It seems as if people have an ongoing love affair with their slow cookers and they are able to do practically anything. That is why it’s not surprising that we can also make hot chocolate in the slow cooker as well.

By now you are probably wondering what is so special about hot cocoa in a slow cooker. To kick things off, it is absolutely better than an instant packet you mix up from the store. The ingredients that go into the hot cocoa include semi-sweet chocolate chips, cocoa powder, cream and milk, and of course a few marshmallows.

In addition, the slow cooker lives up to its name by cooking the hot chocolate at a low temperature and over a long time. All of the sweet flavors in the hot cocoa are given time to melt together and thicken into a perfect batch of deliciousness. Since you are making the cocoa slow, you don’t have to worry about it curdling like you would if you made it on the stovetop.

That brings us to the texture of this delicious beverage. The combination of heavy cream and chocolate chips provide a creamy, thick consistency that is exactly what you would expect from the perfect cup of hot chocolate.

The best news is that it doesn’t take long to make. You can brew up a batch to store in the refrigerator and warm-up a cup of deliciousness anytime you want it during the week. It doesn’t matter if it is for a holiday party or just to enjoy your Sunday afternoon downtime, everything comes together just right.
