Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is almost upon us. If you waited till the last minute to defrost your turkey this year, you may just have an option that will relieve some of the stress you are now under. Quite simply, you can put your frozen turkey in the Instant Pot and let it do the work for you.

If you have ever had the opportunity to host Thanksgiving dinner before, you realize that there is a lot that goes into it. One of the first rules of getting things done is to ensure that the turkey is defrosted and in the oven. Planning this in advance helps but we also are forgetful individuals at times.

The CDC recommends that we do not travel for Thanksgiving and that we celebrate with our household members only. This will likely mean a smaller turkey or perhaps making a turkey for the first time. Since we are likely not going to have the largest gatherings this year due to the pandemic, it’s a good idea to get a turkey that is the right size for your needs.

If you are reading this, you are likely looking at a frozen turkey and wondering how you’re going to get it done in time. If you don’t already have an Instant Pot, go buy one because you can cook an entire turkey in it! The best thing is, you don’t have to defrost the turkey first.

Although this may seem like a dream and perhaps going a little bit too far, there is a YouTube video that shows you exactly how to do it. Nothing is left out, and they show you everything from the beginning till the end. They also give advice on how to take the inside of the Instant Pot with you to make sure the bird will fit.
