Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

We all like to think that we know pretty much everything. In fact, many of us will even pretend that we already know certain things once we are told about them. But we’re here to admit that we were totally clueless about the little circles on GLAD container lids. Apparently, they’re not just decorative!

If you are anything like us, you have been using these containers for some time now. We have been using them for literal decades but we never knew about the purpose of those circles. Thankfully, Twitter user @mamaaGracie shared a snapshot of her meal prep process for her family and that’s when the truth came out.

As it turns out, the circles on the lid have an extremely specific meaning.

If you are in need of a place to store smaller and separate portions of your meal, all within the same container, that’s where these circles come in. You can use the smaller containers and snap them into the little lid circles! So, you can have salad in the larger tub with your salad dressing in the smaller tub – all in one place.

It’s so simple but lots of people in Gracie’s comment section were clearly “today years old” when they heard about it. At least they are being honest. This is a true game-changer for us, and our salads are going to be so much easier to make now.
