Chrissy Teigen is no stranger to being open and candid about her personal life on her social media. In the past, she’s been quite revealing about personal struggles. And on Christmas Eve, she shared with her followers that she was “four weeks sober,” after posting a video to her Instagram. In the video, the mom and TV personality was seen dancing and singing on a yacht during a family trip to St. Bart’s.

One of her followers jokingly commented, “I need whatever drugs you’re on!” in reference to her excited energy, but that is what prompted Teigen’s revelation.

Teigen had previously been open about her relationship with alcohol in a 2017 Cosmopolitan interview.

In the article, she explained, “I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for [husband John Legend], for anybody.”

Back in her 2017 interview, she shared she’d been swearing off the sauce for a little time during a trip across Bali – citing how amazed she was by the health and energy improvements. But then in 2019, she was open about re-evaluating where she stood with alcohol yet again after she indulged a little too much at the Oscars. She had written a tweet about feeling like “absolute s—” the following morning. And she followed that up by saying she was staying sober for a week by saying, “booze is poison.”

This isn’t the first struggle she’s been open about. In recent days, October of 2020, the celebrity was very open about her pregnancy loss when she was 20 weeks into her pregnancy. She kept her fans up to date on her journey, and then in December, she shared an Instagram post that said, “Even though I’m no longer pregnant, every glance in the mirror reminds me of what could have been. And I have no idea why I still have this bump, honestly. It’s frustrating.”

It resonated with so many people, gaining more than 3.6 million likes in less than a week. Despite her struggle, she shared she’s proud of her journey so far and continues to be grateful for what she does have.
