If you happen to work for chipotle, you may want to keep up on the company standards and procedures. A good example is if you decide to call in sick because they will have a nurse check to make sure that you aren’t just hungover.

Brian Niccol, the CEO of chipotle explain the procedure at a conference. Business Insider reports: “We have nurses on call, so that if you say, ‘Hey, I’ve been sick,’ you get the call into the nurse,” he said. “The nurse validates that it’s not a hangover-you’re really sick-and then we pay for the day off to get healthy again.”

Chipotle doesn’t do this to embarrass the employees, they want to make sure they have clean and healthy restaurants for all of their visitors. CNBC reports that in 2017, Virginia saw a norovirus outbreak because of an unenforced sick policy at chipotle. According to that report, chipotle managers were allowing employees to work while they were sick and it was spread to customers.

They use on-call nurses to ensure that every employee is healthy when they clock in that day. It may be challenging to ensure that the restaurants are safe and clean but these preventative measures are well worth it.

“We’ve got cleaner that actually kills norovirus when you clean the tables in the dining room,” Niccol added, as per Business Insider. This will hopefully ease people’s fears over the 2017 problem.
