Homemade bread is one of those scents that fills the kitchen with the most lovely aroma. It’s considered one of the most welcoming scents in a home. And, while we love the flavor and texture of homemade bread, making it can be a daunting task. The rise time, punching down the dough, rising again, kneading…it all adds up to a long process. That’s where quick breads can come to the rescue.
This recipe for buttermilk quick bread is easy, quick, and gives you a tender bread that’s perfect for having with some butter and jam.

Unlike yeasted breads, quick breads (aside from Irish soda bread) can tend to be a bit softer. This one develops a lovely crust during baking, but is still fairly soft on the inside – even if it sounds hollow when you thump it. This is what males it so great for breakfast. I can personally attest to the perfection that is this bread with a cup of hot tea in the morning!
The ingredient that makes this bread soft and delicate is buttermilk. Along with with some Greek yogurt, this makes the texture so delectable.

Once you have the dry ingredients mixed together, combine the wet ingredients and then combine everything together. There’s no bread machine or kneading required and there’s no yeast in the dough.

Bake this for 45-50 minutes until it gets golden and crusty on the outside. Make sure to let it cool before slicing and then enjoy this wonderfully airy buttermilk quick bread the next time you’ve got a hankering for some homemade bread.
