Playing with your food may not be so bad after all.
Art doesn’t have to just be reduced to drawing or painting alone. Art can take on many mediums such as sculpting, writing, woodworking, mixed media, and many others.
As it turns out, working with food as a blank canvas can be an art in itself.
While cooking can be an art form in itself, actually carving into fruits or vegetables in order to create intricate designs or shapes is simply stunning.
One Portuguese food stylist has shown just how artistic one can get when they choose to play with their food. J. Pereira works with fruits, vegetables, and even some soaps as his preferred medium. Using a small carving tool, J. Pereira shows off some very cool knife skills with how he is able to turn an ordinary food item into a wonderful work of art.
J. Pereira has been doing his art for about 16 years and has described it as one of his passions. Given his photos and videos that he shares on social media, it is very clear to see that he takes his work quite seriously. All his videos are like works of art themselves, as he sets each one to its own unique soundtrack. They’re definitely quite relaxing to watch.
Check out the video below as J. Pereira shows how he turns an apple into a beautifully carved rose:
