I’m always looking for easy ways to save money, especially when it comes to grocery shopping. I always end up spending more than I think I will at the grocery store, even when I do meal planning for the week! Don’t get me started on how much I spend when I go to the grocery store without a plan in mind to “pick up a few things.” Yikes.

But I digress. One of the easiest ways to save money on the grocery bill is to shop at a store with lower prices. That seems like a no-brainer, but which store is actually cheaper? Walmart is a go-to for many people, and it’s easy to see why. It’s convenient, most people live within a reasonable driving distance from the major chain store, and let’s not forget their slogan, “Always low prices. Always.” Like it or not, that’s deeply programmed in our minds!

Aldi, on the other hand, is also known for cheap prices. It does come with disadvantages though. For one, the popular chain isn’t available everywhere, with most of their stores in the midwest and east coast. Even in those areas, there isn’t one in every town or even in every major city. One YouTuber did a side by side comparison from identical shopping lists. She has all the answers for us! Let’s break it down and see once and for all which store will save you the most on your grocery bill.

For her experiment, she went onto the Walmart app and loaded up her grocery cart with everything from her list. She also wrote out by hand what items she purchased and their prices, making sure to include the ounces so she could get a more accurate read on price per ounce. Then, the YouTuber went into Aldi, grocery list and price list in hand, and bought the same exact items, recording their price as well. Already we can see that Aldi produce is significantly cheaper than the Walmart prices.

After completing her list, she checked out and saved her receipt. As you can see, Aldi was almost $30 cheaper! She breaks down the different meals she got for that price – including tacos, casseroles, and hamburger-based dishes. All in all, this YouTuber was shopping for 10 meals, and it’s safe to say she got an amazing deal at Aldi.

Let’s see which items were significantly cheaper at Aldi in the video below!
