We love our food processor. It has become a staple in the kitchen for meal prep as well as making things like hummus and pesto. However, there’s more than meets the eye with this kitchen gadget! We all know the food processor is good for chopping veggies and making pastes, but did you know you can make pizza dough right in your food processor? Or peanut butter? Keep reading to find out some of our favorite food processor hacks!

Crushed ice

This is such a simple thing, we’re kicking ourselves for not thinking of it before! As you probably guessed, you really just pour ice in your food processor and pulse a few times until you get the size of ice chunks you want. This is perfect for homemade margaritas or snow cones!

Whipped Cream

We love making whipped cream in our food processor, as it contains the mess and possible splatters of whipping the cream. We’ve all been there – you get all of your ingredients in the bowl and turn on your mixer, only to have the liquid spray everywhere. No more! With this method, simply pour in your heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla, and puree until soft peaks form. Easy peasy!

Pizza Dough

Now this is a truly incredible food processor hack. Save your tired hands and wrists from having to knead pizza dough with this method. Pour in 3 cups of flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and one instant yeast packet. Pulse until combined. With the processor still running, add 1 and 1/2 cups of ice water. Mux until just combined, about 10 seconds. Then, let the dough rest for 10 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon of oil and mix again until it forms a ball. From there, you’re ready to roll it out for pizza!

Bread Crumbs

Whether you’re using bread crumbs for stuffing, meatballs, or anything in between, this is a great alternative to buying the store-bought version. Simply take whatever bread you want pulse in the food processor. Pretty straighforward, but usefull nonetheless!

Nut Flour Or Butter

Looking for alternative flours or making your own nut butter? The advantages to making these things yourself is that you won’t have all of those nasty preservatives that are so harmful. Plus, you can control the amount you make so there won’t be any food waste. You guessed it, this is about as easy as it gets, so really, there’s no reason we can’t all make our own. Just pour your nut of choice into the food processor and blend until you get the desired consistency. Shorter for the flour, and longer for the butter.
