After discovering small, clear, and solid pieces of plastic in Applegate Farm’s chicken nuggets, Perdue Foods LLC has issued a recall on 4,530 pounds of chicken product. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) found that 8-ounce packages of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets produced on September 28, 2015 were “contaminated with extraneous plastic materials.”

In particular, packages marked with establishment number “P-2617” inside the USDA mark of inspection are under scrutiny and subject to recall. Said product, packages with circa 18 chicken nugget pieces, has 9/27/2016 as the Best Before Date, and was shipped to Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Florida, Texas and Georgia.

While there have been no reported cases of adverse reaction due to consumption, consumers are urged to dispose of the aforementioned products or return them to their place of purchase.
