The Touching Length That Strangers Go To In Order To Help A Veteran Who Presumably Can’t Afford Groceries

“What Does That Word ‘Support’ Really Mean?”

In this scene from the ABC News series ‘What Would You Do’, we see a veteran who is short on money for groceries for his family. The groceries include things like baby food, diapers, Mac & Cheese, hamburger meat and some hamburger buns.

At one point, presenter John QuiƱones asks “Will other customers rally to his aid or will they let him be an army of one?”

Thankfully, in the true meaning of paying it forward, this video shows what happens when people choose to help veterans in day-to-day encounters. It demonstrates the general empathy of human beings and their ability to care for those less fortunate than themselves.

Along with this public goodwill, there are federal initiatives designed to aid veterans with their re-integration into society. The Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) is a program designed to help veterans “by preparing them for meaningful careers, providing employment resources and expertise, and protecting their employment rights.” Check out the video to see this in action.

This brings us back to the estimated 49,933 veterans without homes. It’s a sad fact, sure; but there is a way to help them. Many homeless veterans are robbed, beaten, a some even die from living in extreme poverty. Veterans Matter is a program that helps provide homes to these vets to get them back on their feet. This program works to not just give veterans homes, but to give them a life that they can be proud of. You can be a part of effort to help them by donating today!

With just a small donation, you can be a hero and help end veteran homelessness in America.
