Maybe you’ve seen a pack of wolves devour their food before, or maybe that was just our family when presented with tortilla chips…it looks just about the same from an outsider perspective.
In order to make less of a scene at mealtime, we wanted to try out making our favorite chips ourselves (so we could easily make double batches so no one in our family would lose a limb fighting over the last chip), and they turned out to be super easy and super tasty!! Get yourselves some corn tortillas, slice em up, sprinkle on the salt, then throw them in the oven and you’re good to go!
- 12 corn tortillas
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- kosher salt, to taste
- onion powder, optional
- garlic powder, optional
- chili powder, optional
- white pepper, optional
- Preheat oven to 400º F.
- Place your corn tortillas one on top of the other in a large stack and use a sharp knife to cut the stack into 4-6 equal slices.
- Spread tortilla triangles out on 2 baking sheets (making sure to leave at least a 1/2-inch between them) and brush them with olive oil.
- Sprinkle chips generously with salt and your choice of other seasoning, then place in oven and bake for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown.
Note: during the last few minutes of cooking, check frequently to make sure they don’t burn.
- Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes before serving.
